My dear brothers and sisters,
On the historic occasion of 67th Independence Day, I deem it a great privilege to extend my hearty greetings to the beloved people of Arunachal Pradesh and pay rich tributes to all those great souls whose struggle and sacrifices made India a free country.
I take this moment to thank you all for posing faith in the policies and programmes of my Government. It is the duty of the Government to ensure a peaceful atmosphere through effective law and order management while at the same time, taking the goals of development to all sections of the society.
Arunachal Pradesh is considered an island of peace and we must maintain the image forever. I reiterate that my government will not tolerate any sort of criminal activities nor would spare any criminal irrespective of his or her background, position or connections. At all costs, law of the land will prevail.
The State Panchayati Raj and Municipality Elections 2013 passed off peacefully without any hindrance due to our elaborate, timely and seamless arrangement. I put on record my gratitude to the officials involved in the electioneering processes and the people for successful conduction of the local body elections.
As you all know, we have initiated the One Lakh Employment Generation Programme to be achieved over five years. I am happy to inform that the target of creating 10,000 gainful employments in 2012-13 was exceeded with employment given to 17, 327. While in 2013-14 the target is 25,000, my Government aims at surpassing this target by much higher percentage. In Collaboration with the National Skill Development Council, we are conducting a Job Mela in the state capital Itanagar on 30th and 31st August for large scale Skilling and employment generation in both public and private sectors. I appeal all our unemployed youths to take maximum benefit of the Job Mela by attending it without fail and make a future for themselves.
The future is bright for Arunachal Pradesh. Tourism – our major revenue generating source - is going to get a major fillip this year as we will be hosting the prestigious International Tourism Mart (ITM) - a mega tourism event - at Tawang in October. This will help forge a mutually beneficial business relationship with the world-wide tourism and travel industry.
Besides emphasizing on infrastructural development, my government is paying special attention to Health and Education sectors. We have come up with suitable plans and programmes to augment these prime sectors through PPP mode.
We have also given due importance to agri-allied sectors, particularly on tea and rubber cultivation, youths and sports and our nascent but growing industries.
I am happy that within a short span of time we have come a long way. But we have a long way still to go. I promise, with your support and cooperation, this journey of our progress will continue in right earnest.
Let us take a pledge today to stand united against all forces inimical to peace and tranquility of the State and contribute our bit for sustainable development of Arunachal Pradesh.
Together we will do it!
JAI HIND JAI ARUNACHAL
