My dear fellow citizens of Arunachal,
On the historic occasion of 65th Republic Day, I deem it a great privilege to extend my hearty greetings to my beloved people of Arunachal Pradesh and pay rich tributes to all those great souls whose struggle and sacrifices made India a free country. I also salute those great luminaries who framed our constitution and gave as a democratic, republic, socialist and secular nation.
This is a day to recollect our initiatives in the past year and ponder upon new initiatives to transform our collective vision into reality.
We have taken all possible steps to ensure law and order and peace in the State and we shall continue to do so. Bandh-calls have been strictly dealt with. Safety of women and girls has been taken care off with raising of a special women police force and also women Police Station in the Capital Complex region during the past year.We also opened several police stations in the state with adequate manpower wherever felt necessary apart from introducing Police Control Room Vehicles for twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun for effective policing.
With launching of National Food Security Act, we have ensured food for all while laying special focus on horticulture produce. Also off-season vegetables, cash crops, spices, medicinal plants will be developed in partnership with private entrepreneurs.
All UPA flagship programmes and State flagship programmes are being implemented in letter spirit maintaining sheer transparency and accountability. We have also been successful in channelizing youth power in skill development and employment generation besides focusing on sports and allied activities. Our youths have shown keen interest in first of its kind maiden job mela conducted in the state capital in the month of August 2013 and many have been selected to work in private sectors around the country.
Our efforts on social sectors like health and education with many innovative steps have received wide range accolades. We are committed to improve the health sector while efforts are on to increase the literacy rate of the state through judicious implementation of Right to Education Act.
On the infrastructural front, works on PM’s mega economic package are at various stages of execution. While Trans-Arunachal Highway progressing on war footing, the four-lane highway connecting Holongi-Itanagar-Banderdewa is in prime stage. Important State of the Art buildings, like Civil Secretariat, Assembly Building and MLA apartment are coming up in a satisfactory note.
District-Secretariat and Mini-Secretariat buildings are being constructed in the districts in phased manner while bitumen roads are being replaced by Cement Concrete roads in district headquarters and major towns.
I am happy to inform you all that the Harmuti-Naharlagun railway link has recently witnessed first successful trial run of Rail engine which has opened up our expectations to have the rail link with rest of the country by last part of March 2014.
There will be a visible change in approach towards our efforts in promoting Arunachal as a tourist destination. We have been organizing various events which have attracted the attention of national as well as international tourists. Besides concentrating on religious, adventure, cultural, health and nature tourism, my government has been focusing on providing soft skills such as marketing & advertisement, skill building, facilitating procedures, supporting individual entrepreneurs etc. while entrusting the task of infrastructure creation through PPP mode or through private sector.
I dedicate the year 2014 to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, with each of our development effort being singularly targeted at ensuring common good particularly for those who can’t secure, a secure future of their own.
Let us take a pledge today to stand united against all forces inimical to peace and tranquility of the State and contribute our bit for sustainable development of Arunachal Pradesh.
Together we can do it!
JAI ARUNACHAL PRADESH
