Government orders SIT probe into APPSC paper leak

TANAGAR December 21:The State Cabinet, in its sitting chaired by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on December 18, has ordered a special investigation team (SIT) probe to unravel the truth regarding the leakage of question paper of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) examination.

The Cabinet has decided to issue a directive to state's Director General of Police to conduct an SIT probe to unravel the truth and submit the report to the state government for further action.

The Cabinet further opined that the APPSC may initiate appropriate action based on the magisterial enquiry report which has already been submitted.

The cabinet also approved for Constitution of Civil Service Board and implementation of Supreme Court’s judgment regarding fixation of minimum tenure for Civil Service Officers.

In a bid to improve the education scenario especially in block levels, the state cabinet gave a positive nod for implementation of block level reforms in the Education administration of Director of Elementary education.

In a major decision, amendment of Section -130, Sub-Section -6 of the Arunachal Pradesh (Land Settlement and Records) Act, 2000 and Arunachal Pradesh (Land Settlement and Records) Rule, 2012 has been approved by the state cabinet. Under the amended clause, the lease period for allotted Government land has been extended from the previous 30 years to 99 years for Defence (Army, Air force), central/state Para-military forces, all central government establishments and PSUs. The cabinet also approved amendment of Section 133, sub-section-1of the same Act and rules and other miscellaneous points relating to land matters.

In a step to strengthen the traffic management and to check and control the increasing cases of traffic rules violators, state cabinet headed by CM approved for enhancement of penalties and delegation of power to head constables and above to compound the offences punishable under various sections of Motor vehicle Acts.

The cabinet also approved to confer powers to District Tourism Officers to issue Inner Line Permit only for tourists visiting the state.
